Zeno Acne Treatment: How Effective Is It?The Zeno acne remover is touted as one of the most convenient ways of getting rid of pimples. The product is a portable, handheld, rechargeable medical device designed to treat mild to moderate inflammatory acne and pimples. This device was developed by Tyrell Inc., a company based in Houston, Texas and founded in September 2002. The Zeno acne treatment option is more convenient compared with other methods of treating pimples. It works by inducing a heat shock response from acne-causing bacteria, thereby forcing them to self-destruct and allowing the skin to return to its normal state. The device has been proven to eliminate almost 90 percent of acne-causing bacteria within the two and a half minutes that it will take to use the device on a pimple-affected part of the skin. Tyrell Inc. introduced the product to the Houston Technology Center in 2003. The Center’s acceptance of the breakthrough device led to the involvement of a group of investors called Houston Angel Network which finances startup companies in the area. In the development of Zeno, several technologies have been used including the patented ClearPoint technology and a thermal engineering system; the latter being responsible for honing the heating element at the tip of the handheld device. The thermal engineering effort improved the efficiency of the device and reduced the cost of the heating element, allowing the company to market the product at a more reasonable price. Currently, Zeno has a suggested retail price of $225. Tyrell’s product is better than other acne treatment options in several ways. First, it works faster and does not entail too much effort to use. It also does not cause adverse effects like other drugs and therapies. Aside from a temporary redness of the skin following the use of the device, Zeno has not been reported to cause damage to the skin. The level of heat provided by the device is just enough to get rid of mild to moderate pimples without causing skin irritation or burns. The product’s microprocessor actually adapts to various skin types and to the heat absorption characteristics of the location of the acne or pimple. The Zeno acne treatment device has been tested and proven to eliminate almost 90 percent of acne-causing bacteria. Despite the recommendations of the company and various skin expert groups, it is still advisable to talk to a dermatologist or skin specialist about the product just so a consumer would know what he or she is getting into.
