The Portable Acne Treatment Device Called Tyrell Zeno

Tyrell Zeno is a handheld battery-operated medical device used in treating acne and pimples. The device has a tip that heats to a pre-set temperature that can then be applied directly to the pimple. It works by triggering a heat shock response from skin lesion-causing microorganisms and causing them to self-destruct.

The Tyrell Zeno device is developed by Tyrell Inc., a company based in Houston, Texas which started operation in 2002. The firm developed the Zeno to serve as a home-based treatment option for individual inflammatory acne pimples. According to the company, the electronic product is effective, safe and painless.

One Zeno treatment lasts for two and a half minutes and Tyrell recommends two to three treatments spread over 24 hours to clear up pimples. According to the company, the device is highly effective particularly if used at the first sign of a pimple. Compared with other pimples and acne treatments, Tyrell claims that the device is faster in relieving skin conditions. It also doesn’t have the usual side effects associated with common acne treatments; although, temporary skin redness may occur after using the product.

The handheld device has been found to eliminate 90 percent of acne-causing bacteria in the two and a half minutes required to use it. Although it has been highly recommended by several skin experts, the product might not be as effective in severe acne situations. Zeno, as the company stated, is good with mild to moderate inflammatory acne. Consultation with a physician is still recommended before using the product even though a consumer can purchase Zeno without any prescription.

Acne is a skin condition mostly caused by the bacteria called P. acnes. It is normally present in the skin as part of the sebum maintenance system. This bacterium produces enzymes that break down sebum and multiplies rapidly in a clogged hair follicle. The increase in the number of P. acnes and its enzymes in the skin causes irritation and inflammation which eventually lead to acne. The primary purpose of Zeno is to get rid of this bacterium to prevent pimples or acne from occurring.
